Maxwell Rotich e Antonina Kwambai vencem a Meia Maratona do Porto

A Hyundai Meia Maratona do Porto celebrou hoje a 13ª edição, numa manhã onde o desporto e a promoção da saúde foram o mote para a reunião de milhares de atletas que, em família ou entre amigos, desfrutaram desta fantástica prova.

Esta edição da Hyundai Meia Maratona do Porto teve início com uma partida especial, protagonizada pelos atletas do movimento “Egoísmo Positivo”. Pelo segundo ano consecutivo, o grupo que é composto por participantes em cadeiras de rodas e acompanhantes que conduziram estes atletas tornou esta prova um evento mais inclusivo e à medida de todos.

O padrinho do evento, Paulo Guerra, campeão europeu de crosse e medalha de bronze no mundial da especialidade na edição de 1999 em Belfast, um feito que poucos europeus alcançaram, deu o tiro de partida que permitiu o preenchimento das margens do Douro por um energizante e colorido movimento de corredores e caminhantes.

Atletas africanos dominaram as primeiras posições

Com uma elite internacional de peso, a chegada ao Jardim do Calém foi um emocionante duelo entre os dois primeiros atletas africanos. O primeiro atleta a alcançar a linha de meta foi Maxwell Kortek Rotich (Uganda), com o tempo oficial 01:01:14, imediatamente seguido por Enyew Mekonnen Alen (Etiópia), com o mesmo tempo, e Daniel Rotich (Uganda), aos 01:01:22.

Avelino Eusébio (GFD Running) surpreendeu os restantes atletas nacionais, cortando a linha de meta aos 01:05:25, na 12ª posição da classificação geral, seguido de José Sousa (Trainingtheonlinedistance), aos 01:05:38, e Rui Pedro Silva (Sporting CP), aos 01:06:40.

No setor feminino, a queniana Antonina Kwambai foi a grande vencedora, com o tempo 01:09:42, seguida por Atalel Anmut Dargie (Etiópia) com 01:10:50, e a fechar o pódio ficou Chaltu Shuna Ketabo (Etiópia) com 01:11:32.

Catarina Ribeiro (Sporting CP) foi a primeira portuguesa a chegar, na 6ª posição da classificação geral feminina, com o tempo 01:12:37, seguida por Susana Godinho (Sporting CP), com o tempo 01:15:57, e Marisa Barros (SC Salgueiros) aos 01:16:30.

A cerimónia de prémios teve a presença de César Navio, em representação da Câmara Municipal do Porto/Ágora, Mário Duarte, da Câmara Municipal de Vila Nova de Gaia, Paulo Ferreira, da Hyundai, Paulo Natal, do Santander, e Dave Cundy, da AIMS.
